10th Grade Humanities Core Instructor

Position Summary
The 10th grade Humanities Core Instructor is a full time faculty position. The HCI will use their creativity, love for learning, and maturing biblical worldview to inspire young minds to consider how fields such as history, art, literature, Bible, and geography, affect their daily lives and future as Christ-followers. The HCI will seek to “master” an integrated curriculum, such as Tapestry of Grace, and provide innovative ways to engage students in the material and learning process.
The HCI will also serve as the 10th grade advisor and home room teacher. This entails helping students choose elective classes, think critically about career and ministry, and serve as a primary point of contact for parent questions and concerns.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Duties
- Teach all Core subjects including English, history, geography, Bible, and other language arts courses as needed.
- Review lesson plans provided in the curriculum.
- Prepare to teach each subject with prayer and curiosity.
- Keep appropriate records of student achievement including grades.
- Regularly communicate to parents about student progress and behavior.
- Meet students as needed to answer questions about assignments or grades.
Discipleship/Advising
- Humanities Core Instructors are expected to look for opportunities to disciple (formally through instruction or informally through casual conversation) students.
- The HCI will advise students on which elective courses and internship opportunities will suit their career and personal goals.
Qualifications
- A mature relationship with Jesus.
- A completed bachelor’s degree in humanities or similar discipline.
- Experience teaching at the high school level.
- Two references; one academic, one spiritual.
- A love for teenagers/young adults.
- A love for learning.
Pay
This is a 28 hour/week position with teaching duties Monday through Thursday. Pay is $18/hour, $504/week.

New faculty have the option of complimentary housing provided by a family or individual from Roseburg Christian Fellowship. Complimentary housing for new faculty includes the following:

- Utilities except for phone or personal cable/wifi.
New Faculty Mentoring Program
Humanities Core Instructors will participate in a year-long mentoring program focused on improving teaching skills, classroom organization and discipline, personal leadership development, and spiritual maturity. Faculty will meet twice monthly with the principal and/or other education leaders to ask questions, discover new resources, and grow as educators.
